romney get over the top? he would if he won wisconsin, paul ryan's home state. 10 electoral votes right there. logic being if the president's winning ohio, these are two very similar states. so wisconsin would be one model and let's just say for the sake of argument that one did stay blue, that puts the president right there. governor romney would have to get there by winning in nevada, not enough, and new hampshire. so you see governor romney would essentially almost have to run the board without ohio. the president has more options if he loses ohio, because he starts closer to 270. so is it impossible for governor romney to win without this one? no. but is it improbable, yes. anderson? >> that's why they're spending so much time in ohio. let's take a view right now from the ground level. jim acosta is with the romney campaign in north canton, ohio. brianna keilar is at the white house. the presidented ahead in ohio, but a close race, no doubt about it. is the romney campaign showing any signs of concern over their ability to win ohio? >> i just talked to a senior romney advisor who sa

[cheers and applause] you know the closing hours of a campaign have a dynamic all their own. a lot of voters have known for some time who they were going to vote for but there are others just now putting aside the demands of their daily life and considering how their vote will affect their own life, the life of their children, and of course the course of the country
and so will his running mate, paul ryan. are they trying to put pennsylvania in play, a move of strength or desperation. they have different answers on that one. >> we are going dig deeper into that later. gloves are off on the campaign trail. let's take a listen. >> in the closing weeks of the campaign, romney is using his talents as a salesman to dress up the very same policies that failed our country so badly. the same policies we have been cleaning up after these past four years and offering them up as change. >> a lot of people are hurting. they don't want to see another four years like the last four. do you want to see four more years with 23 americans struggling for good jobs? >> no! >> he took a break because of superstorm sandy, but now there's a lot of rhetoric. >> here is one reason why. take a look at this. the race is extremely tight right now. here is the national cnn poll. the survey is out over the last week and a half. average them together. it's as close as you can get. look at these numbers, colorado is one of the eight battleground states. a very, very close contest.
. but the idea was all of the supporters here tonight supporting mitt romney and paul ryan and starting tomorrow morning they will all be in the different parts of the country probably mostly in the swing states. >> greta: is there any way to when he sure, ohio tonight? i know that everyone on the republican side says governor romney is going to win and everybody on president obama's side says he is going to win. how do you measure it tonight? >> i mean you know obviously, i guess an obama rally you would feel differently. at this rally it seems like he has enormous enthusiasm. this has the feeling of a winning campaign. the enthusiasm here tonight was tremendous. if this s a is swing state i feel good about it even if the polls about even and even if obama has a lead of one or two i suspect the undecided votes are going to go to mitt romney. i have a pretty good feeling about ohio. and if he wins ohio, i think he wins and maybe president obama could feel the same way about it. this is probably the key state. >> greta: why do you all leave, ohio, and spread out across the country? why don't you

and neck and much paul ryan was in the buckeye state trying to get last minute votes. >> we need your help. this is a big deal. we are not picking a president for four years here. we are choosing a path for this country that will last a generation. >>> mitt romney is going to stay in ohio until tuesday. the president is scheduled to appear with bill clinton in ohio this afternoon. it is a little over a week away. >> they are taking advantage of the voting and poll heading to the polls election day. they stood in long lines to vote and many folks were shocked by the poll turnouts. this is the first time it is held on a saturday. early voting end on friday. in florida, more than half the voters are taking advantage of early voting. both president obama and mitt romney are encouraging early voting but in states where hurricane sandy is expected to hit. election workers are expecting a much lower early voting turnout. >>> the daughter of marco rubio is recovering following an accident. the senator was notified about the accident yesterday while at a rally with presidential candidate company mi

virginia events scheduled for sunday and he's going to campaign in ohio with his running mate, paul ryan, instead. what that means is romney was supposed to campaign in northern virginia and richmond on sunday, two big, bellwether medium markets in virginia and now he's going to be campaigning in three small towns in ohio. it shows you how the storm is impacting the schedule. the flipside is that the storm could potentially, if it's damaging, take president obama off the campaign trail as well and have him come back to d.c. for emergency purposes to be the president of the united states, which we remember is his job. so you know, we have to see how this plays out, but schedules are being adjusted now through tuesday, so far, so we'll see what happens. >> that's as it pertains to the campaigning. then, long term, there are some states, connecticut among them, that have already declared states of emergency, and there are potential scenarios if some of the states take direct hits from the hurricane, power out for days if not more than a week, then that would impact the electronic balloting
